U Values
This measures a window’s heat loss. Lower U-values mean better insulation, keeping your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer for optimal energy savings.
Solar Heat Reflection
Control unwanted heat gain with solar reflective glazing. This reduces glare and keeps your living space comfortable, even on scorching days.
Light Transmission
Our glazing options offer excellent light transmission, letting the natural beauty of the outdoors flood your home while maintaining privacy.
Self Cleaning Glass
This Innovative technology uses a microscopic coating that allows water to bead up and effortlessly carry away dust and grime.

Solar Heat Reflection Vs Light Transmission
Think of suns rays as heated particles:
Solar Heat Reflection: Bounces particles of heat away, keeping the room cooler. A higher percentage results in a cooler room.
Light Transmission: Allows particles of light to pass through the glass, brightening the room. A higher percentage results in a brighter room.
North facing Roof Lantern: Choose clear glazing to maximize light and warmth as it receives less direct sunlight.
South facing Roof Lantern: Choose glass with a higher solar heat reflection percentage to control solar heat and prevent overheating.
Keep in mind that it’s not possible to have 100% of both. A higher Solar Heat Reflection will reduce light transmission through the glass. This decision should be based on your customer’s needs and the direction of the lantern. The higher the solar heat reflection, the more control you have over room ambience during changes in seasonal weather temperatures.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is self-cleaning glass?
Self-cleaning glass combines self-cleaning and solar control properties, making it an excellent choice for homeowners who want low-maintenance glazing.
A special coating applied to the glass breaks down organic dirt, reducing the ability of other dirt particles to stick to the surface. When it rains, water spreads evenly across the glass rather than forming droplets. This thin sheet of water then washes away the loosened dirt as it runs off.
The result is cleaner glass with less maintenance and visibly clearer views.
What does U Value mean?
A U-value measures how well a material prevents heat from escaping. It represents the rate of heat transfer through the glass, measured in watts per square metre per Kelvin (W/m²K).
The lower the U-value, the better the insulation performance.
In simple terms:
Higher U-value = more heat loss
Lower U-value = better thermal efficiency
What is a thermal break?
Aluminium is naturally a good conductor of heat. Without insulation, heat from inside a property could easily transfer through the frame to the colder outside.
To prevent this, aluminium profiles are thermally broken using polyamide sections between the inner and outer parts of the frame. Polyamide is a strong, glass-reinforced plastic that acts as an insulator, significantly reducing heat transfer through the frame.
This thermal break helps improve the energy efficiency and comfort of the building.
What are the benefits of powder coat verses wet paint?
Powder coating provides superior durability and performance compared to traditional wet paint.
Because the powder is thermally bonded to the surface during curing, it forms a tougher and thicker coatingthat is more resistant to chipping, scratching and general wear. This makes it particularly suitable for outdoor aluminium products.
Powder coating also offers excellent colour retention. Over time, exposure to sunlight, heat and moisture can cause coatings to degrade in a process known as chalking, where the surface becomes faded or powdery.
High-quality polyester powder coatings resist this process much better than many wet paints, helping the finish maintain its colour and protective qualities for longer.
Why is PAS 24 Security important?
PAS 24 is a recognised UK security standard for doors and windows. Products tested to PAS 24 have undergone rigorous assessments to ensure they can withstand common methods of forced entry.
Choosing a PAS 24-certified product gives homeowners confidence that the system has been professionally tested and approved for security, helping to protect their property.

Why is Speed Bead important and why is it better than a wedge gasket?
Our patented Speed Bead system is used on Korniche bifolding doors, sliding doors and glass partitions to secure glazing units within the sash.
Traditional aluminium systems use a separate bead that must be tightened with a wedge gasket, which can be time-consuming to install and may result in inconsistent finishes.
Speed Bead simplifies the process. It features a pre-fitted gasket and clip-in design, allowing the bead to be installed quickly and securely.
This system provides:
A cleaner, more refined finish
Faster installation
Improved consistency
Why might I need ‘kit form’?
As a standard, our bifolding doors are preassembled before delivery. The doors only need to be fixed into position and the glass fitted. However, we can supply the doors in kit form if required. This means the outerframe is in four pieces and the sashes packaged up separately. There are various reasons why doors might be required this way but some of the main reasons are down to restrictions on access. For example, if the doors are being fitted in a property where there is no route to the intended location except through the house, then kit form would be a viable way of achieving this.
Why are Q-Lon seals industry leading?
Q-Lon seals offer the ultimate in material and function to provide the highest standard of sealing ability, even under extreme conditions. As they have a foam core, they offer excellent memory and return to their original shape even after periods of long compression and due to the polyethylene film and polypropylene insert, they provide fantastic sealing performance and don’t stretch or shrink over time.
