Frequently Asked Questions
What’s a U-value?
A U-value measures how quickly heat passes through a complete window or door, accounting for both the glass and the frame. The lower the U-value, the better the product is at insulating and reducing heat loss in your home.
Can I walk on your rooflights?
No. While they are engineered for strength and safety, they are glass and not designed to be walked on.
Do your rooflights open?
No, all of our standard rooflights are fixed, non-opening units designed to maximise natural light and thermal efficiency.
Do you offer blinds for bifolds and sliding doors?
Yes! We offer integral Uni-Blinds, which are Venetian blinds sealed safely inside the double or triple-glazed glass unit. Because they are sealed, they never get dusty, tangled, or in the way.
Do you supply blinds for rooflights?
We do not supply built-in rooflight blinds. However, you can explore aftermarket blinds for this purpose. Alternatively, we offer privacy glass and solar-control glazing with stronger tints to help reflect solar heat and keep your living space comfortable on warmer days.
What’s an upstand?
An upstand is the structural kerb or framework that sits between your roof and the rooflight. It raises the rooflight above the flat roof surface, ensuring proper water runoff, weather sealing, and a secure mounting base for installation.
How do I buy Korniche products?
While you can buy directly from us, doing so without a trade account is typically the most expensive option. We strongly recommend purchasing through our network of trade suppliers, such as local builders, installers, and builders’ merchants, who receive volume discounts. Your installer can manage the entire process—from quoting and ordering to final installation. We then deliver the products and glass directly to your site (unless your installer or builder is transporting them themselves).
Do you have a local showroom?
Yes! We always recommend experiencing Korniche products firsthand before making a purchase:
- Find a local showroom: Use our online “Where to Buy” tool, enter your postcode, and filter by “showrooms” to find a local supplier near you across the UK.
- Exhibitions: You can also see our products on display at major industry events. We regularly attend the National, Glasgow, London, and Northern Homebuilding & Renovating Shows.
